Still no water. We’re now on day 10. I’m sure you’re tired of hearing about my woes for the last few weeks. I’ve either been sick, dealing with the freeze (and aftermath) in Texas, or both. If it makes you feel any better, I’m tired of it, too. 😉
We had hopes last Monday that our water would be restored. A plumber came out and looked at the pipe that goes from our water pump to our pressure tank. Unfortunately, the pipe wasn’t the only thing damaged. The pump itself has a huge crack in it and leaks water everywhere. It needs to be replaced, but they don’t have any in stock.
A new pump has been ordered, and they’re hopeful it’ll come this week, but there’s no guarantee. Another uncertainty is we don’t know the status of the pressure tank. We won’t know if it (or the internal pipes or the water heaters) is (are) compromised until the pump comes. Obviously, if anything else is damaged, that just prolongs the time we are without water.
But we are managing. The grocery store now has water (YAY because our boiled snow is nearly used up), and we’re rationing our melted “bathtub” snow for flushing the toilets. We’re all feeling grungy and grimy from our inability to shower, but it’s only temporary. Every time I see the pile of dishes in the sink or the laundry in the overflowing hamper, I just tell myself, “One more day. Just get through one more day.”
I’m done allowing COVID and the destruction from the freeze to dominate my life. They had their turn, and now it’s over. I’m ready to get back in the swing of things (even if the pipes say differently). Yesterday, I sent out my first query in almost two weeks. It was only one, but it felt good. It was my way of taking back control.
I don’t expect overnight miracles…it will take time to catch up. I can’t begin to tell you how behind I am on my work in progress. But yesterday was one foot forward. And today will be another. And that’s how a journey begins…with one step and then the next.
‘Til next time!
