Hello. If you’re on this page, you probably want to know a little more about me. Let’s start at the beginning…I was born on a hot Friday morning—only teasing—I’m not going to bore you with that!

Many people aren’t sure how to pronounce my name. It’s: ah-may-lee (hope that helps).

As stated on my front page, I’m sassy, sarcastic, and a little shy. I don’t particularly like confrontation, but if you force me, I fight like nobody’s business—something that’s caught some people off guard. If you’re my friend, I’ll be your biggest fan and your staunchest defender. I’m strong but at the same time fragile. I tend to guard my heart and, therefore, don’t easily open up beyond what I make public.

I’m a writer. Originally, it began as a hobby and turned into a passion. Now, I can’t stop. My first manuscript, Flower in the Ash, is currently looking for a home, but it doesn’t end there. Other stories are fighting to get out. My latest project, The Water Chamber, can’t wait to be completed and launched.

Sword in the Stone

Like so many Americans, I suffer from Anxiety Disorder. It can be crippling at times, but I refuse to give in—I’m too stubborn. My blog chronicles my journey of being bold in the face of anxiety. Hopefully, it will help someone experiencing similar challenges.

I live in east-central Virginia with my husband, Thomas. Together, we’re raising four lively children and are accompanied by our cat, Lucy, and our dog, Mollie. Things aren’t always perfect—in fact, they rarely are—but we try to have fun.
